Before I sign up for a new account, can you tell me about your company?
Hair & Compounds was established in 1992.
We began as a small hair importer in a garage
turned office filled with boxes of human hair.
We had one goal: to change the hair extensions industry by using the scientific method to ensure quality.
Growing a lot throughout the years and perfecting the hair extension. This growth led to the opening of our own production house in Chennai, India, in 2001. Opening a production house gave us the ability to control and customize every aspect of production. It took nearly five years to perfect and have a viable product.
Sourcing the best quality hair was also crucial in our company's expansion.
More than 25 years later, Hair & Compounds now produces three types of extensions, over 44 color options and the ability to provide custom orders that can take the world of extensions to the next level.
H&C has continued to grow and change, all while learning from the community which has proven to be even more valuable.
Learning the science behind and applying research to the hair business was a revelation and continues to be a significant part of this company’s philosophy.

How is your hair compared to other extension
brands?
Our hair is different than all the other
extension brands.
Our hair can't be treated like all 100%
Non-Remy(non-cuticle) Asian silicone-based extensions from your
typical big name brands on the market.
Meaning there is a high risk things can go wrong when chemically altering - alter at your own risk!
As all our hair is naturally wavy and curly and will never lay flat or pin straight - since Indian textures do not come like that.
Do you guarantee your hair?
We
guarantee that all our hair extension lines hair grade purity and
manufacturing specifications.
To ensure wearability and
performance throughout the expected life cycle.
All hair extension orders are
thoroughly inspected throughout the manufacturing/inspection process.
Every hair bundle is hand washed, vigorously tangle tested, and air dried as part of our quality control procedures.
Our
primary concern is ensuring you and your
customers are completely satisfied with your
purchase.
We would like to encourage you and your client to look over
all orders immediately after receiving them.
If you or your
client are not 100% happy with the hair
quality, color, texture,
finish, or any other
aspect of the hair extensions upon receipt of your order,
return the order immediately under our "Standard Returns
of an Unused Product"
policy.
If there is a problem with the hair
extensions after installation that was not visible
before the installation, contact us immediately to report a
Hair
Issue.
How do I create an account?
You will need to be a licensed
cosmetologist or salon business
owner to get an account.
To apply for an
account, please fill out and submit the form at this link: NEW
ACCOUNT.
It will take us up to one
business day to review your account. Once approved, you will get an
email that will allow you to set up your login information.
Then you will be able to
see our prices and place orders online.
What do you need to see on my license in
order for me to create an account with you?
When
reviewing documentation submitted to create an account, we
verify that the license is valid and that a
current state-issued cosmetologist or
business license is for a hair salon
or hair replacement business.
We check
the expiration date, state, and
name match the one you entered when
applying for an account.
We do not accept nail,
massage, barber only, or esthetician-type licenses, because hair extension
installation requires training and knowledge in hair and scalp health and
care.
Do you send samples?
The only way to try our hair is to make an
order.
A great
way to get a sample of everything is by purchasing our Color
Swatch Set.
There is no
minimum requirement, and we have an excellent 100% risk-free,
30-day return policy!
What this means is that after you order the hair, you can wash it, shampoo it, dry it, brush it and test it in any way you like, EXCEPT you CANNOT alter the hair chemically (i.e. coloring/dyeing/bleaching), mechanically (i.e. cutting), or install the hair.
This allows you to hopefully feel very comfortable in trying our hair to make sure our quality meets your and your clients' expectations.
If our
hair does not meet your quality standards within
30 days, we will refund the purchase
amount (minus a 3.5% restocking fee).
The hair is considered
"accepted" and "non-refundable" when you officially
decide to install the hair.
Where do you source your hair?
Our hair is 100% Indian Remy human hair with cuticles
intact. Our hair is ethically sourced as we purchase raw hair from Indian
temples nearby our production house in Chennai, India.
Purchasing hair from Indian temples is considered the most
ethical way to source hair in the industry.
The people donate their
hair for religious purposes. The temples then sell the hair to distributors. The temples
can use this money to support the local community by providing free meals, lodging, and
other services.
You can read more on the origins of our hair on our Production House page.
Where can I view your pricing?
To see the prices of our hair, you will need
to create an account.
We only
sell to licensed hair professionals,
and by restricting access, we protect our stylists from having our
prices public.
Don't worry, it's super easy and
free to apply for one!

General Questions ↓
Explore all we have to offer here:
What type of hair are your hair extensions made
from?
Our hair is 100%
Indian Remy human hair with cuticles intact. Our
hair is ethically sourced as we purchase raw hair from
Indian temples near our production house in Chennai,
India.
Purchasing hair from Indian temples is considered the most ethical way to source hair in the industry. The people donate their hair for religious purposes.
The temples then sell the hair to
distributors. The temples are able to use this money to support
the local community by providing free meals, lodging, and other
services.

Where can I see more about how your extensions
are produced?
We own our Production House
located in Southern India, which gives us
total control of our hair extensions.
We
would love to show you more about the whole process from it's
raw state to the finished product in your
hands!
Please visit our Production
House page.
What does 100% Remy mean?
Any good quality
extensions should be made from 100% real hair, but
that doesn’t always imply it is 100% Remy.
So what does that mean if both Remy and Non-Remy extensions are made from real hair?
Non-Remy hair has roots and ends going in both directions and requires acid washing to remove the top layers of the cuticles or the hair will tangle severely. Following the acid wash, the hair is coated with silicone creating almost doll-like hair.
Remy hair extensions will have the roots at the top with all cuticles intact and running in the same direction.
Great care is made to maintain root direction to avoid tangling. It is far more challenging to produce but worth the result of natural-looking and feeling hair.
Do you have straight hair?
Our hair texture ranges from a
slight body wave, full body wave, & curly as is the natural texture of
Indian hair. Every batch of hair will have variations of texture and strand
density. Natural Indian hair texture is not
straight.
If a client wants a smooth
straight style, the hair will need to be trained and properly styled. This means
the hair will not naturally lay thick and heavy, nor will it dry straight like
most Asian hair blends. Cuticle hair with a natural texture will behave exactly
like a normal head of hair.
If you desire a straight
hairstyle, first blow dry the hair until it is completely dry. Then pass over
the hair once or twice with a flat iron. The hair will be smooth and soft from
root to tip. DO NOT USE HOT TOOLS ON DAMP HAIR, AS THIS WILL CAUSE
SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE.
It is also recommended to apply
heat protectants when straightening blond hair colors.
Do you sell the tools needed to apply your
extensions?
We do
not supply hair extension tools for application as they are readily
available through most hair supply sellers (Hair Shop, His-n-Hers).
We have our Ionix Brush Up semi-permanent treatment, our Color Swatch Set with all hair color swatches & textures, and Copper Links to fit our Cylinder extension tips.
We've made sure all of our extensions can be installed easily with the tools and training you may already have and do not require special training to order from our hair extension lines.
What is a Blend? What is an Rooted?
For Poly and
Cylinder:
Blends are equal
amounts of two colors side-by-side within each strand of the Poly and Cylinder
extension. Different combinations of 2-color blends are available in Layered,
Premium and Curly, Large tips only.
Rooted are a darker root color
fading down to a body color, often creating a third middle color along the
fade.
Lengths of 16" and
18" will have a 1" root fading down to 4".
Lengths of 20" and 22" will have a
2" root fading down to 6".
Different combinations of Rooted are
available in Layered, Premium and Curly, Large tips only.
For Hand-Tied
Wefts:
Blends are 1/4"
streaks of two colors alternating along the weft track. Different combinations
of 2-color blends are available in Layered and Curly, excluding the 14" length
weft extensions.

How long does your hair last?
Our hair can
last up to a year with the proper care; we do have customers
who have worn the extensions up to 3 years!
Levels typically 1 through 8 will last up to a
year, and levels 9-12 will last up to 6 months.
The key to
long-lasting extensions is moisturizing and
low heat styling.
Depending on the method used, Hand-Tied Weft and
Cylinder is 1-3 years & Polymer Bonds last 3-4 months.
Also, following our Maintenance Guide and Maintenance Blogs help greatly!
Here is a great testimonial video from one of our customers:
Does the hair Oxidize?
Hair color does
oxidize over time, usually due to water
minerals and sometimes the type of hair care that
harshly scrubs the surface of the hair
strands, thereby removing dye particles. If you have hard
water, it can increase oxidation.
Usually, hard water treatment can help immensely, as sold by Malibu C. To get rid of excess build-up that adds yellow and orange hues, we also recommend clarifying shampoo wash followed by a very diluted purple shampoo wash.
We recommend using a low pH conditioner to finish and close the cuticles making the hair soft and smooth again.
How much do I need for a Full head? Partial fill?
For a Full head, we recommend
4-6 ounces/120-180 grams on average.
For
Wefts, this is 4-6 bundles.
For
Poly or Cylinder, this is 7-10
bundles.
This is for
thicker haired clients or those looking for length and
volume.
For a Partial
fill, we recommend 2-3 ounces/60-90 grams on
average.
For Wefts, this is 2-3 bundles.
For Poly or Cylinder, this is 4-6
bundles.
This is for thinner hair clients or
those wanting a little bit of volume.
Visit the Complete Weft Guide. Visit the Complete Cylinder Guide. Visit the Complete Poly Guide
What are the different hair textures you offer?
Our hair textures are the
following:
Premium (Double
Drawn 70%) - This means more long strands than short strands,
creating a slight body wave at the bottom of the hair.
Having a lot of fullness at the ends.
This is only available in our Cylinder
(I-tip) and Poly (K-Tip) ready-made extensions.
If you want this in Hand-Tied Weft you will have to Custom Order
it.
Layered (Single Drawn) - This
means the hair is made up of short strands and long
strands.
The short strands typically start
at 6"-8", creating what we call a Body
Wave and creating thinner and wispy ends.
This is available in
all extension methods.
Extra Body
Wave - This hair is also a single-drawn
finish, creating what we call a Full Body Wave.
Short
strands start from beginning to end for this texture rather than the
traditional 6-8" we do in our Layered finish.
This hair is like a
beach wave and is super wavy from start to finish. This is available in
all extension methods.
Curly - This
is 100% natural curly single drawn hair that
forms ringlets.
The tightness or looseness
of the curl depends on the donors,
how we batch blend, color and length.
The roots to mid-way
tend to be stretched out due to the weight of the hair. The middle to ends can
be 1" ringlets to 3" deep waves.
This is available in
all extension methods.
The only limit we have with our
Curly texture is, the max we can bleach this hair is a level 10
Bleach, we can't do the super light blondes for curly as the curls
lose their shape when trying to achieve levels
11-12.
What's the difference between Premium and Layered?
All of our hair is of the same
quality and from the same
source. The difference is how we
finish the types of hair and the prices.
Premium Hair is
70% Double Drawn with only the bottom a few inches tapering to
the ends, creating a smoother, softer wave.
This is for clients who have
fuller ends but also want some waves.
Layered Hair is
Single Drawn with short strands starting 6" from the top,
tapering down and creating a full-body wave.
This is for clients that want
lots of body and texture with natural ends.
For more information, please watch this video:
When a color level displays Natural, Ash,
Gold, Bleach or Red. What does that mean?
As you know,
colors are described by number levels. For
H&C we use levels 1-12.
Each level has a certain
hue or tone to it, in order to describe it in
words.
For example ~ 7 Gold, this means
the hair is bleach washed and dyed to a
level 7 and has a Gold
hue/tone to it.
We also
abbreviate the word of the colors for
dual tone extensions.
For
example ~ 7G/10N Blend, this
translates to 7 Gold / 10 Natural 50/50 Blend
(side-by-side)
The list of hue/tones we offer
are as follows:
N = Natural
B =
Bleach
A = Ash
G =
Gold
R = Red
***NOTE we do not
offer every hue/tone in every level.
To see all the colors we
offer, please see our Color
Chart.
I received my order and the hair has a mark across
the bundles near the top, what is it?
On
occasion you may see a line across the hair
about 6" from the top of the extensions.
This is a watermark created when we wrap the top of the extensions prior to washing, tangle testing and conditioning of new batches.
Every single bundle is washed and tested. When we remove the plastic cover from the top of the bundles and let the hair hang dry, it often creates a watermark.
The watermark disappears with the first wash when all the hair has been saturated with water.
What is Brush-Up? Can I get further information
on Brush-Up?
Brush Up is a simple spray-on, heat-in treatment that can be
applied on all colors and textures.
It contains a light bonding agent that calms cuticles and creates a smooth tangle free surface that lasts for 4-6 weeks.
Use on any and all types of cut hair products to
refresh the look and feel of the hair, while extending the longevity of the
extensions. It is also safe and beneficial for scalp hair.

Up blog with a
"How to" video explaining the treatment
process.

What is White Hair? Is it bleached?
Our
white hair begins as salt
and pepper gray hair and it
is very nearly white in its virgin state.
We only bleach
wash it to remove the yellow brown stains that is common with
gray hair.
It is the most expensive hair in the world. It is the result of
hundreds of hours of labor, strict quality control, and attention to
detail.

Curly Hair ↓
New to our Curly Hair?
Try our guide, we have product videos/details:
How do you measure Curly hair?
We measure our Curly hair
both relaxed and pulled straight. When relaxed and curly the hair may be 1" less
up to the exact length stated.
When pulled straight the hair will be at
least 1" longer.
For example, 16" Curly
hair will be 15-16" relaxed and 17" pulled straight.
Is your Curly hair permed?
Our curly hair is
natural. We don't use perms.
All of our hair is a natural Indian texture and comes from donors with naturally wavy hair or a natural loose curl.
The processes we apply are bleaching the hair to a lighter level and depositing fiber dyes to achieve the shades we offer.
The lighter the color level, the
less wave or curl because bleaching breaks the disulfide bonds and reshapes the
natural texture.
The lightest level for Curly hair is
level 10.
Do you have a selection of curl types?
All of our hair is naturally curly;
it can range in length and
curl depending upon the donors, the
lengths, and the color process.
Every batch is unique, as all the
hair for our extensions comes from different heads, therefore curl patterns will
never be the same and will always vary.
Specific curl patterns can be
requested but only through a Custom
Order.
Another thing to remember, the
longer the hair the looser the curl, OR the
lighter the color the more
loose the curl.
Please take a look at our curl
pattern examples by length.
Is frizz normal with Curls?
Yes! Natural curly hair is
frizzy and fluffy.
To define
the curl and avoid being so fluffy,
you must hydrate & style it with some
styling products and diffuse the
curl.
This is why we make it crucial the person
wearing our curls match the texture before application and make sure they
understand the wear and care of naturally curly hair.
To get some tips
on styling and caring for curly hair, visit our Top 12 Curly Hair
Tips!
How curly does it get?
The tightness
or looseness of the curl depends on the
donors, how we batch blend, color and length.
The roots to mid-way tend to be
stretched out due to the weight of the hair. The middle to ends can be 1"
ringlets to 3" deep waves.
We leave it to production to mix and
match donor bundles that become a certain color and length batch, so we often
do not know what will be the final result until we receive
the hair.
All the curly hair is washed, brushed, shaken out and then hung up to dry before we label and stock the hair.
You are always welcome to request photos of a particular color/length before placing an order.
Do the curls lose it's form after a while?
Naturally curly hair will
not lose curl like permed hair.
The only way to change the body and texture of the hair is to permanently break the disulfide bonds, which can be done with chemicals or repeated application of heat.
What lengths do you carry in Curly?
We only stock our curly hair
in specific lengths. If you do not see the length you need, you'll have to
consider a custom order.
The following lengths are offered in
Curly:
Hand-Tied Wefts - 16" &
20"
Polymer Bond - 16" &
18"
Cylinder I-Tip - 16" & 18"
Would I be able to get your Curly hair in a level
11-12?
Our curly hair line is
not available in colors lighter than a level
10.
Naturally curly hair will not hold their curl when bleaching and tend to lose all curls beyond a level 10 bleaching process.
We appreciate your understanding.
Can you straighten the curly hair?
All of our hair is
100% human cuticle hair that can be easily curled or
straightened.
To avoid damaging the hair, do not touch the hair with hot irons when the hair is wet or damp.
Use heat protectants on light blond colors, and most importantly, do not use over 300 degrees Fahrenheit heat settings.
Do you install the hair curly or do you straighten it first?
This is stylist
preference. Curly hair extensions can absolutely be installed
normally like our wavy wefts.
Some stylists prefer to straighten the wefts first for their specific method but most clients will wear those extensions curly after the install.
How do you take care of curly hair?
As a stylist,
you know all hair is different. Here are some Top Curly Hair
Tips for your
clients.
We interviewed Curly Hair Experts + Top Professional Curly Hair Stylists and have listed over 12 Pro Curly Hair Tips on the curly page.
Hand-Tied Wefts ↓
New to our Hand-Tied Wefts?
Try our guide, we have product videos/details:
How many tracks come in a bundle of Hand-Tied Wefts?
All our Wefts are sold by the ounce
(30g).
In all lengths
in Thin Track except for the 14" Wefts come
with 2 tracks per bundle that equals 1oz
(30g) all together.
Our
14" Wefts come with 3 tracks per bundle that
equal 1oz (30g) all together.
Since all our wefts are sold by 1 oz (30g), if it's in a Thin track the weight is distributed into 2 Thin tracks.
For Micro Density because the density is slimmer we typically have to distribute the weight into 4-3 tracks (the longer the hair the less tracks you get).
How much do I need for a Full head? Partial
fill?
For a Full
head, we recommend 4-6 ounces/120-180 grams on
average.
For Wefts, this is 4-6 bundles.
This is for thicker haired clients and those looking for
length.
For a Partial
fill, we recommend 2-3 ounces/60-90 grams on
average.
For Wefts, this is 2-3 bundles.
This is for thinner hair clients and those wanting
volume.
How wide are your tracks?
The width of
each track is between 10-11 inches wide.
On
average that is half the circumference of the head or the
average length of the back of one's head.
How are the Wefts Hand-tied?
Our Hand-Tied Wefts are
woven into one continuous thread.
Because of this, we
advise against cutting our wefts tracks.
If cut, the weft will fall apart unless you are experienced
at cutting and gluing hand tied weft tracks.
To ensure consistency and quality, the wefts are machine sewn across the track after the wefts are hand tied, in order to prevent shedding.
This is the only element of our production process that uses a traditional sewing machine.
What is the density of each track?
All of our ready made wefts in
Layered, Curly & Extra Body
Wave are made with thin density
tracks, approximately ½ ounce each.
We sell all of our wefts
individually by the ounce (oz) to give our clients the ability
to purchase multiple colors and lengths that can be layered together.
How can I order a different track other than thin?
We own our
production house which gives us full creative control over our
extensions.
The different track densities are as follows:
Heavy -50% more dense than Thin
Thick - 25% more dense than Thin
Full - Twice as much density per track than Thin
Thin - Our current standard track in stock
Fine - 25% less dense than Thin
Micro - 50% less dense than Thin (Available in Extra Body Wave)
To see all of the track densities please view our Reel on
IG.
This option is
only for custom
orders only.
I am trying to place a weft order, what is the
difference between Thin and Micro?
The names of the
track refer to the density of the
track.
Depending
on the density is how we distribute the
weight since all our wefts are sold by weight; 1 oz
(30g) to be exact per bundle.
If it's in a Thin track, the weight
is distributed into 2 Tracks.
Micro Track, because the density is
slimmer/finer, we typically have to distribute the weight
into 3-4 Tracks (the longer the hair, the less tracks
you get).
All our Weft bundles weigh
1 oz = 30 grams:

Can I cut the weft track?
We recommend
not cutting our hand-tied weft tracks because they will
unravel.
However, if you still wish to do so, we have a video that shows how
to glue the ends of the weft tracks after cutting them.

How many strands come in a bundle of Cylinder?
All our Cylinders are sold the
same. Large Tips come with 25 strands and

What is the plastic tube on the extension made of?
Each strand is
encapsulated within a clear abrasion resistant
tube by first bonding the root strands with a polyamide hot melt
adhesive and then sealing the tube.
Cylinder Micro Rings extensions
have finely engineered tip that will not crack or
shed and can be re-attached numerous times.
The tip will remain strong and flexible.
All tips are made by hand and
shaped to fit into our Cylinder Copper
Links.
Our tips are protected with this special sheath originally produced for the aerospace industry for long lasting strength while maintaining flexibility.
What are the copper links made of?
We import our copper links
from China where the factory uses scrap metal left over from
making metal buttons and grommets for the garment industry.
The copper
rings are very soft metal that are much like bobby
pins and do not cause scalp irritation unless the client has a
special allergy.
The metals are a combination of copper, brass, nickel,
aluminum and any other soft metals.
Do you have a color chart listing what color matches with each link?
Yes! We have designed this page for you to get a list
of what copper link color matches with our hair colors.
Please visit our Copper Link Color Chart
Here
What size tips do you offer?
They are available in either
small which fits in 2.5mm link or
large which fits in 2.75mm link and
0.25" long.
1 bundle of size small density = 50 cylinder tip hair strands
1 bundle of size large density = 25 cylinder tip hair strands
Do you offer re-tipping services?
We do not have a
retipping service as you can easily reshape the tips of
cylinder extensions with a flat iron, lowest heat setting, press for 5 seconds
and allow to cool before touching the tips. They will revert to the original
shape.
To see how it can be done please watch this video:
When would you choose Large or Small tip bundles?
People generally order the
Small Tips for
finer/thinner hair clients or when wanting to
add hair to the sides of a client's hair.
Large tips are for thick/normal hair clients and the standard sized hair extension strands.

What is the bond made of?
The bond is a clear
polyamide hot melt bond custom formulated for strength and endurance.
It's made of Polyurethane hot melt
adhesive that forms an initial bond immediately upon
cooling.
How long will the bond hold?
Our Polymer bond is easy and
fast to apply with a high resistance to heat, conditioners and oils.
The
bond will hold 3-4 months minimum when applied as
directed.
How many tips comes in a bundle?
The bonds come in two sizes,
small and large.
A bundle of
small density tipped extensions contains 50
strands, and a bundle of large density tipped
extensions contains 25 strands.
Both Large and Small tip bundles have the same amount of hair and weigh 17-20 grams (0.5-0.7 ounce).
The dimensions of the bonds themselves are 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch
The small bond tips are .8 millimeters thick
The large bond tips are 1.5 millimeters thick
When would you choose Large or Small tip bundles?
People generally order the
Small Tips for finer and thinner hair clients or when wanting
to add hair to the sides of a client's hair.
Large tips are for thick/normal hair clients and the standard sized hair extension strands.
What is the recommended heating temperature?
Polymer Bonds should be melthed at 180
C or 350 F
Can your Polymer Bonds be cut?
Yes! Watch the following video
to learn how to turn our polymer bond tips into microstrands:
Is the bond "sticky" when trying to remove it? How difficult is it to remove? Do you sell product to remove?
Our bonds are not sticky or
gummy. Once a remover is applied, the bond begins to break down and crumble with
the help of pliers.
We do not provide/sell a bond
remover. Most removers made for
hair extensions will work effectively on our polymer bond.
Even drug
store 70-90% alcohol or nail polish remover acetone coupled
with grooved pliers will break down the bond and will evaporate the excess
moisture and turn clear again.
Does the bond turn "white"?
Our bonds do not
turn white. If the bond turns white, it usually means there is too
much oil on or near the edges of the bond.
You can get rid of it by
touching it with your iron to quickly seal them again.
Can my client wash their hair after applying?
We recommend you have your
clients wait one to two days before
washing their hair.
Our bonds get stronger over time and reach their optimum strength after 24 hours.

How can I make blonde extensions last longer?
We know blonde hair is high maintenance! It
is naturally dark brown hair that has been bleached up to its
limit to create the blond shades we offer.
We made hair care easy for you and curated this blog with tips and tricks to get the most out of our blonde hair.
To see our Special Hair Care for Blondes.
How can I take care of Hair & Compounds
extensions?
We sell 100 % REAL Hair, which means it
requires proper care. But don't sweat it!
We have created a complete Maintenance Guide that you can share with your clients to show them how to take care of properly and what to expect from our extensions.
How can I make your hair last longer?
We know everyone wants to get the most out of
their hair when buying extensions.
With H&C hair extensions, we have had people whose extensions lasted 1-3 years! You need to cover many things with your client's post-installation, especially when the hair extensions are made with real hair.
Everything you need to know will be on our Advice for Long Lasting Extensions Blog.
Can I color treat your hair?
This is why we have a coloring guide: COLORING GUIDE
How do I color the threads on the weft track?
Nylon
thread is sewn across the tracks, and these will unfortunately lighten
with any peroxide and/or are completely resistant to hair dye colors.
Nylon or even
cotton threads rarely absorb hair
dyes.
We do however have a great solution that has already been tried and tested
with excellent results.
Permanent fabric markers in brown shades
can be used to quickly and easily cover the threads.
They will not bleed and are
permanent through multiple washes.
Since we use fiber dyes to dye our hair, it makes sense to use the same type of dye for the threads.
Watch our video on darkening the thread on our wefts in just 30 seconds:
In this
photo, we used one of the fabric
markers purchased via Amazon to cover
the thread.
It took about a minute for the entire track width as the marker glided on easily and the thread absorbed the color.
Can I use oils and hair masks on the
extensions?
Oils and hair masks are often used on different types of human
hair, like Asian hair that is
thicker, heavier and coarser.
Asian hair is often delivered with a
silicone coating, which wears off.
Hair masks and oils replenish that coating on this type of hair.
We
only use 100% Indian Remy hair which is finer and
lighter, and we don’t coat it with silicone.
So
when you use the same products, such as oils and hair masks, it often makes the Indian
Remy hair waxy due to build-up.
The hair can become dry and tangled because you keep coating it. All you need is a soft shampoo and a good daily conditioner for daily upkeep.
Our
advice is: Once a month clarify; once, every couple of months use Brush
Up!
When it comes to care,
keep it simple.
Are there specific instructions for clients who are
swimmers? (Vacation hair care, Summertime haircare)
We
recommend clients wear a swimmers cap to
protect the hair from any damage.
Another suggestion is using the Malibu C Swimmers line. They have a whole collection that focuses on keeping the hair soft, hydrated, and shiny.
The line also fixes discoloration and damage from any harsh elements that may be in the pool.
Please read our Summer Hair blog for complete recommendations.
Any tips for Winter Hair Care?
Winter can be
difficult to have extensions because of the dry
wind and arid climates.
We spoke with a handful of professional stylists to give you the best tips in our Winter Hair Blog.
How can I help my client that is having issues
with the hair extensions?
We always recommend to cover the
basics of maintenance with the client during
consultation.
We provide a hair card with
every shipment that briefly outlines the hair type and care guide.
We also have a maintenance
guide you can share with your
client.
My client used a product on their hair and now the hair
is dry and tangles. Is there something I can do to revive the hair without
damaging it?
When taking care of our
hair, certain products with ingredients such as Proteins (keratin, amino acids,
Cystine Bis-PG-Propyl Silanetriol,Hydrolyzed collagen, etc..) will just dry out the
hair and cause build up.
Hair care build up creates a blockage that stops any further attempts to moisturize the hair, leaving it to appear lifeless and dull. The hair will also feel rough and dry, and be hard to brush due to the tangliness.
Rest assured we do have a solution to solve issues such as this.
Please follow these 3 steps:
1. Apply a clarifying shampoo, sometimes more than once, to remove the build up. We recommend Kenra Clarifying shampoo as we have tested several and this brand has proven to be most effective with removing all residues coating the hair.
2. Apply a light conditioner to make the hair manageable while you dry the extensions.
3. When nearly dry, apply the Ionix Brush Up treatment to seal the hair and make it shiny and smooth. Make sure to use a high heat blow dryer as Brush Up is a semi-permanent treatment that sets with heat.
Have your client switch hair care products to a very light moisturizing shampoo that cleans without stripping; and a daily conditioner that has a low pH and remains moisturizing throughout the day. We also recommend that you clarify the hair once a month.
Most conditioners contain a heavyweight silicone, and once that coating is removed, hair will look and feel new.
I chemically altered the hair and now the hair is
dry, rough and tangling. What can I do to fix this?
When applying any type of
color treatment, it is necessary to follow with a post treatment that will close and
seal the cuticles.
If the hair has been chemically altered (dyed/toned/colored), it does not meet our return requirements, but that does not mean this is a lost cause!
Both cases can be resolved at home or in your salon!
The remedy is a simple 2-step solution: cleanse the hair thoroughly to pull out all the residue and close the cuticles afterwards.
- Cleanse the hair with clarifying shampoo.
- Dip the hair in a vinegar rinse to quickly close the cuticles. (1 part white vinegar, 6 parts water)
- Shampoo and lightly condition the hair. For light blonde, towel dry to remove all excess water and move to the next step. For all other darker colors, blow dry until nearly dry and then move to the next step.
- Perform IONIX Brush Up treatment to seal the cuticles and keep smooth for several weeks. (Saturate the middle to the ends of the hair with the solution, brush through to make sure every strand is coated, using high heat blow dry and style the hair to heat set in the treatment.
In the future, we recommend following up a color session with a method to close the cuticles. It’s extremely important and, unfortunately, side effects of not doing so will result in dry and tangled hair.
Our IONIX Brush Up is what we use to close cuticles, but using a low pH conditioner or performing a post water/vinegar rinse will also do the trick temporarily.
My client has been wearing your hair for 2-3
months and is now experiencing tangling & dryness. What should I do?
We believe it’s time
for a Brush Up Treatment.
Our Ionix Brush Up treatment was created to restore the hair back to its shiny soft appearance while sealing the cuticles that can cause tangling.
During washing, styling and wearing the cuticles will open up, snag on each other creating friction that will eventually lead to looping and lifting.
Closing those cuticles and keeping them down for several weeks with Brush Up is critical for long lasting results.
Brush Up is a semi-permanent treatment that lasts 4-6 weeks and can be applied on the hair extensions (and normal hair!) during regular maintenance.
Please review our Brush Up information page and watch the application video.
When applying on hair extensions that have been worn for several weeks or months, we recommend first cleaning the hair thoroughly with a clarifying shampoo.
Hair feels different than before, not like the
previous hair I’ve purchased from you. Can you explain why?
There will always be
differences in batches where some hair is sleek and
slight wave and others are full body wave.
If the client prefers the hair to lay straight then she will have to train the hair until it calms down and blends with her own hair.
There is always a settling in period with new hair that at first behaves natural to its texture and body.
This is the nature of real Indian cuticle hair as most of it is thick and wavy.
The advantage is the hair is fine enough and very adaptable for many hair styles and textures.
Your client may be used to a certain behavior and expects the same results, but with human hair there will always be differences as the many heads it comes from before we make into extensions.
This is one reason why we request all of our stylists to please wash and dry the hair upon receipt or at least show the client the hair extensions to make sure she is happy with the color, texture and feel of the hair.
Most are expecting to wear the hair for 6 months to a year and it is critical they approve the hair before installation.
Clients who normally wear their hair straight and
within the first weeks clients are experiencing dry, rough, and
tangling.
When styling the hair
straight and smooth with our wavy Indian hair, there is a correct way for long lasting hair
extensions, even in the light blondes.
If done incorrectly, the ends can become frayed and broken or the
middle to the ends can become so dry the hair will begin to climb upwards creating tangles
within a few hours. Our hair is NOT blended with thick straight Asian hair
and it is NOT coated with silicone.
This means
any and all products and heat styling occurs directly onto the hair fibers.
The common blow-out treatment
on light blondes can be extremely damaging. Using a round brush with a blow dryer set against
the wet hair while pulling the hair straight causes significant structural damage to the
strands.
The pulling and stretching of the wet fibers will fracture the hair resulting in
loss of elasticity. The hair becomes straw-like in look and feel.
Best
results for straight and smooth hair is to blow dry
into its natural wave texture. Use only brushes or wide tooth combs that are suitable for
hair extensions. When almost dry, apply any heat protectants, leave-in conditioners or
styling products.
Finish blow drying until completely dry and then style with a flat
iron or other thermal heating tool set at 300 deg F maximum. Often a quick pass on low heat with a flat iron will result in
straight smooth hair without damaging the strands.
Using a hot iron on damp hair, from water or styling products, will result in over-dry damaged hair. The fast release of moisture from the hair with high heat causes burns and significant structural damage to the exterior and interior of the cuticle strands. This results in dry frizzy and frayed ends.
For best results, always wait
until the hair is completely dry before direct contact with a thermal heating tool.
Styling products almost always contain water and wet the hair strands. Finish blow drying
first before touching the hair with a hot iron.
And most importantly! Do not go above 300 deg F!
For more information on how to Blow Dry and not Blow Fry please visit our blog.
Directly after installation, the client is complaining
about the quality of the hair. I haven’t had a chance to get them in my chair, what can I
do?
With our hair extensions, we are 100% certain of the
quality as the hair is only in the hands of our team before it gets to you, but
we also understand that we’re capable of mistakes which is why we offer a guaranteed
return in our policy if a manufacturing flaw is found.
Once hair extensions have been installed, cut or color treated, they are no longer returnable, but if manufacturing is proven to be the root problem, we will refund or replace.
Determining the root problem involves returning the hair to us for testing in which we take photos and/or videos upon receiving the return, go through several processes to determine the cause of error and a potential solution, and send you our analysis and suggestion for resolution afterward.
However, from the situation you’ve described so far, we might not be there yet.
Normally, when clients complain about a new hair installation, no matter if they’re brand new to hair extensions or if they’ve worn hair extensions for years, they are seeking advice and confidence in the product.
It is critical that you get this client into your chair and review home care.
Trying to review and completely understand what they’re experiencing via messages or email is not possible.
They may have washed, styled and/or slept with the hair for the first time, and become unsure of what is normal or abnormal for real hair extensions with full cuticles intact. You won’t have a better understanding until you’ve met with the client again.
Most importantly, when you’re reviewing home care with your client, share with them our Maintenance Guide for Clients. It will outline for them what to expect and explain the "setting-in period". Oftentimes, the hair will react to styling or washing products and only needs a little time to adapt before the hair calms down.
The top most common reason our hair extensions suffer a downgrade in quality is due to excessive heat, over drying and lack of any heat protectant used to keep the ends smooth and moisturized.
I have followed all the support advice given to me on
this page. I want Hair & Compounds to do a personal inspection of the hair,
how can I do so?
Here at Hair &
Compounds we strongly believe in transparency. If you feel
there is something wrong with the extensions you purchased, send it back to
us.
We will be happy to take a closer look at the hair and do a thorough analysis and testing.
We will need a few more details and possibly
photos.
Please fill out our
Hair Issue Form, there we will investigate
whether we can do a test in-house , offer a quick fix,
or if we need to bring in the hair for further inspection.
We take hair issues seriously, and want to look at every aspect of what happened before we can offer a resolution.
Filling this form out does not mean you automatically get a
refund/exchange.
We will first offer advice to help resolve the issue
at home/salon.
If we suspect a manufacturing flaw, then we will request
to send the hair back to us for immediate testing that may result in a refund or
replacement.

iOS(version 10.3 or later) for iPhone, iPad, and iPod
touch, Android(version 5.0 or later).
SHOP app features:
- Online order tracking
- When a customer uses Gmail, Shop automatically locates
emails with tracking numbers to identify orders to track.
Customers using another kind of email
address can add tracking numbers manually.
- When
Shop is tracking an order, sometimes it doesn't have enough information to display an
exact location for the delivery.
The delivery status is still
accurate.
- Home page displays all orders from Out for Delivery to In Transit and Delivered. See every order enroute at once.
How can I place an order for pick-up?
During checkout, select shipping
method: Local Pickup
We will contact you once the order is ready
for pick up.
You can either pick up the order yourself, send
someone else or arrange an Uber/Lyft driver to pick up your
order.
Please note: If you choose Uber/Lyft you will be required to
sign a release document in order for you to arrange one.
If I place my order on the weekend or after
business hours, how do I know when my package will be deliver?
Your
order will be shipped the following business day. Days enroute begin
counting the day after your order has been shipped.
For
example, if you selected 2nd Day Air on
Saturday, your order would be shipped on
Monday and delivered on Wednesday.
I received a message that my package was
delivered, but I can't find it.
Please use your tracking number to
obtain complete status and delivery
details from the USPS or UPS website.
Their
complete tracking history and delivery information may offer more
insight.
If this does not help you discover where the driver/mail
carrier left the package, the following are your best options in this
situation:
1. For
USPS, we do not advise calling their customer service as they cannot
view anything more than what is displayed with the tracking information. Speak directly
with your mail carrier to find out where they left the package.
2. Call UPS customer
service immediately to inform them about the problem. They can send a message to the
local center to contact the driver.
Unfortunately, all we can
see is the same tracking information.
Once the
package leaves our business, we have no
further control over its delivery.
USPS will
allow us to put a trace on the package only
after ten days. UPS
will allow us to initiate a trace immediately, but it
can take 7-10 days.
We always
recommend speaking with the delivery person or even checking with a neighbor as soon as
possible.
Please let us know if nothing shows up after doing the steps
above!

My package has still not arrived and it is past the
estimated delivery date. Can you find out where it is?
Occasionally, the mail carrier will
experience delays and deliver past
the estimated delivery date.
Always use your tracking number to navigate the carrier's website and view the
tracking history to see the last location scan.
Unfortunately, we do not have any unique
insight and can only see the same tracking information as you do.
We suggest that
you sign up for a free account with
USPS and UPS for additional control over your packages
and deliveries.
If you
feel the delivery will be too late and need your order right away, we
suggest you place another order for a rush shipment.
We can
initiate a return for a refund once the
original package is delivered.
How do I request a return?
All products, provided that they are
unused or unaltered, will be accepted as a return
within 30 days after receipt of your order.
Please note that there
will be a merchant fee of 3.5% for a refund or you can request a
credit without the restocking fee to apply to a future order.
We do not offer refunds for the original shipping charges but we will pay for return shipping (within the US only) and provide a prepaid shipping label.
Please complete and submit the
Returns form on our Contact
Us page.
All International Customers will be required to cover the shipping cost to send back any products for a refund/store credit.
You have 30 days to request a
refund/credit and 14 days to ship the item(s) back once you have received the
return label.
If the return label does not show the item is on the way, your return
request will be cancelled.
PLEASE NOTE: Bundles that are returned
tangled, dirty, wet, or otherwise that require repair work will incur a 20% restocking
fee.
What does Free Returns mean?
We offer Free Returns to our customers
with a couple exceptions.
Free returns means we pay for the shipping
label to mail back your products, we create either:
- Store credit on your account
with us
-
Refund minus 3.5% merchant fee.
Exceptions for free returns:
- Addresses outside the United States
- Reason for returning is "color not what you wanted" and you do not have our swatch set, unless this is your first order.
Can I return hair that I have not used or
opened from over 30 days ago?
All returns must occur within 30 days after
receipt of your order.
Please check your order delivery date in your account online to verify the date your order was received.
If you are within the 30-day period, please complete the Return Request Form.
Is it possible to return the hair after
installation?
We do
not accept a return for hair that has been installed or
cut.
Per our return policy, after you order the hair, you can wash it, shampoo it, dry it, brush it and test it in any way you like EXCEPT you CANNOT install the hair, alter the hair chemically (ie. coloring/dying/bleaching) or mechanically (ie. cutting).
Thus, if you installed and cut the hair, then it is considered to be altered and no longer applicable for a return.
How can I exchange the hair extensions I received
for another color or length?
There are 2
options:
1. We can email you a
return label, and then you mail the
hair back first before we send you
the new hair.
If there is a difference in cost, we will either generate a
refund/credit or charge your credit card for the difference.
2. You can place an order for the
new bundle(s) now, and we can ship it as a regular order.
We can still
email you a return label. Upon receiving the returned hair, we can issue a
refund or store credit.
It really depends on if you want to wait to receive the new hair color after we have received the return or if you want to treat the return and purchase as 2 different transactions.
Please note that hair can only be returned
if it has NOT been color treated, chemically altered, heat styled, cut
or installed on someone.
We also have a merchant fee that is
3.5% of the total amount of returned products if you elect for a
refund.
