MILD SHAMPOO

All shampoos are formulated with anionic detergents (negative charge) because normal hair has an anionic (negative) charge and they are not attracted to each other.  We do not want the shampoo to bond with the hair or penetrate into the hair causing swelling.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, one of the most commonly used detergents in the cosmetic industry for hair cleaning is capable of causing great damage to cut hair.  These are long-term damages to the tensile properties of the hair and short-term damages caused by losses in the hair’s moisture content.

A shampoo should quickly clean the surface and be rinsed off with water, taking with it dirt, oil and other residues.  A simple act that is made complicated by the very structure of hair extensions and especially non-cuticle hair.

Regular healthy hair has two great advantages. Sebaceous glands that produce oil that spread over the fiber creating a hydrophobic, anionic surface to help repel water and chemicals and cuticles that are a chemically resistant protective layer surrounding the hair fiber.  Both of these characteristics are stripped from the hair fiber with manufactured hair.

Many great brand names create great products for normal hair growing on the scalp.  These two important disadvantages of cut and non-cuticle hair are not even considered by their formulators.

For hair that no longer has the natural oils from the sebaceous gland or the cuticle wall to protect the fiber, it was necessary to create a shampoo with lower concentration of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (reduced approximately 50%) to save the hair from damage.  Regular shampoo used on cut hair will aggressively clean the surface, but it will also quickly penetrate into the hair, causing dramatic swelling and dryness.

Our shampoo is a delicate and carefully measured blend of cleansers that gently clean the hair, but must be used after the Pre-shampoo solution. The Pre-shampoo solution will not be effective if a regular shampoo is used and the Mild shampoo will not be as effective without prepping the hair with the Pre-shampoo solution.
