What’s Happening to the Russian Virgin Hair Extensions Market

The Russian Human Hair Market Today: Russian hair is more in demand today than it has ever been. It is widely regarded as the best type of hair for hair extensions. Due to the number of celebrities wearing premium hair extensions and hair pieces, the trend has spread like wildfire. But, there is a problem brewing.

First, let’s examine why Russian hair considered supreme to Indian and European Bulk hair.

All Russian hair comes as virgin hair – this means that it has never been chemically treated or undergone any potentially damaging treatments.

Russian hair is of Caucasian descent – this means it is thinner and finer than the hair that comes from other markets, such as Asia.

Experienced stylists and consumers alike claim that Russian hair last considerably longer than Indian or European hair.

Since it is considered to be the closest thing to natural hair, and is easily processed in the salon, fewer extensions are needed.

Russian extensions are not easily detected, especially for an untrained eye.

Considering these factors, it is no surprise that Russian hair is the top choice of stylists worldwide. The ‘premium’ label is justified by the quality of the hair. But what about the quantity? While the demand is up, the supply is on a downward trend.

Russian human hair sells for a large profit; it is some of the most expensive hair on the market today. After cleaning out the dried out hair, the short hair and the waste hair before finally getting to a good batch of raw hair, there is considerably less hair left. Combined with the fact that Russian hair is nowhere near as easily obtained as Indian hair, this creates a thin supply line. As the demand increases, the dwindling supplies force many exporters to resort to padding the ponytails with shorter hair lengths, dried out old hair and processed Asian hair with claims of Russian authenticity.

As you can tell, this is all a recipe for disaster. Because of this, there are those that claim the Russian human hair market does not even exist. Some salons demand to see proof that the so-called Russian hair being advertised is really from Russia. Supporters on this side of the argument claim that Russian hair is collected from European and Asian markets, repackaged, and turned around to be sold as Russian human hair.

Authentic virgin Russian hair does exist but the supply of good quality Russian hair is scarce and even more scarce are lengths of ponytails of  or longer. The scarcity of the product creates an even higher demand, causing a spike in its price. The high prices, coupled with constant absence from suppliers’ stock shelves, always lead a product towards doom. Soon this hair will become obsolete, a whispered rumors of the best hair in the world and those of us that once knew it when it was prolific will have fond memories.
